What are the odds?
So I got myself a $38.00 parking ticket in Seattle yesterday. What are the odds of beating it in court? It said I was parked in a loading zone, but the signs were (and yes I got a photo) confusing. The curb was yellow, but the paint was worn and old and looked older than the pay machines. I paid. The loading zone sign looked like it was for the other way becuase there was a pay to park sign in my direction. Who thinks I should write the check and who thinks I should show up and try and stick it to the man? Who thinking I should spend an order of magnitude more for a lawyer to get it beat? (Not me on the last one, but you could try and sell me.)

Dude just pay it. You won't win.
You don't need a lawyer to fight it. You just request a court date and go with photo printouts. Calmly and rationally explain your confusion, show the photos, and request it be removed. Unless you have a history of tickets, I think your chances are good. Benjamin was successful getting a speeding ticket kicked through this method.
Now, that means that you're willing to spend the time to do this to save $38, which is really your call. It's more worthwhile for moving violations than parking tickets since they're more expensive and affect your insurance rates.
Some places will let you write a letter to contest tickets. I am not sure if Seattle does. Check the back of the ticket to see. If a letter is an option I highly recommend that route since you can explain and include the photo, but you don't have to take the time to go downtown during business hours.
Good luck!
Sounds like you got off cheap.
It will cost you thirty eight bucks just thinking about it for more than an hour.
